All members of the Class of 2018 are invited to apply for the Unsung Hero Award. This award recognizes achievement outside the usual categories of academics, athletics and the arts. The award is given to someone who possesses some very special qualities: someone who has faced unique circumstances or challenges, and/or has been a positive inspiration to others. Seniors are encouraged to write an essay and nominate a classmate, someone they feel is deserving of this honor. The senior who nominates a deserving classmate will receive $1,000. The subject of the winning essay, our Unsung Hero, receives $2,000. Details needed to apply for this award are included in this mailing. All Unsung Hero essays should be submitted to Guidance by March 9, 2018.
The Julia Maloney Scholarship is made possible by the generous bequest of Julia Maloney, who was a teacher at Stewart School for 47 years. The Julia Maloney Scholarship winner receives an award totaling $12,000 – — $3,000/year enrolled at an appropriate post-secondary institution for up to four years. Selection criteria for this scholarship include academic achievement, an essay, extra-curricular activities, and an interview. Students are required to have a minimum weighted average of 90 to apply for this scholarship. An application is included in this mailing. All applications for the Julia Maloney scholarship must be submitted to the Guidance Office by March 9, 2018.
Club Award recipients are recommended by the club advisors; there is not an application process for students.
